My Bible Journey

Hello, I'm Mark.  Welcome to my Bible Journey!

I plan to read the Bible one book at a time, one chapter at a time, and one verse at a time from the Book of Genesis all the way through to the Book of Revelation.  Along the way I will summarize what I read, write down verses that pique my interest, and jot down thoughts and reflections about the Bible passage.  I don't know how long this journey will take or where this journey will take me.  I look forward to the journey and what God has in store for me and you!  I pray that I grow closer to the Lord, learn more about the scriptures, and share with other people that are interested in learning more about God's holy inspired Word.

Listed below are the books in the Bible.  I will start at the beginning in the book of Genesis, work my way through the Old Testament, and read the new Testament, concluding my journey in the book of Revelation.  The journey does not stop here.  The journey is ongoing, as it is imperative to pass this information and wisdom down from generation to generation.  I am here for a moment; for a glimpse in time.  For my short journey upon this Earth may God light my path and be the wind in my sails that leads me and guides me.  God's will for our life is found in the Bible.  We just have to devote some of our time and listen.  I believe God will show us the way.  After all, God didn't create us to be blind.  So, why did God create us in the first place?  What are we here for?  Do we have a purpose on Earth?  Let's find out in this journey through the Bible!

Check out my good friend's, Nancy Johanna Binuya, blog. She is undertaking a daily Bible reading challenge in her faith journey. We are both reading the Bible in tandem and sharing our thoughts and reflections with each other and for the rest of you to see. Check her awesome blog out when you get a chance: https://dailybiblereadingchallenge.blogspot.com/

On this Bible Journey I will be reading the Bible and 'Thru the Bible with J. Vernon McGee.'  Many thoughts and ideas come from Mr. McGee's volumes on the Bible.  'Thru the Bible with J. Vernon McGee' is a tremendous resource and I suggest you check it out when you get the chance.

Deuteronomy

The Book of Deuteronomy Introduction Deuteronomy is the last book of the Pentateuch.  The first five books in the Bible were written by Moses and they are called the Pentateuch.  These books are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.  In Greek, Deuteronomy means "the second law."  The main theme to this book is "Love and Obey."  Deuteronomy teaches that obedience is man's response to God's love.  The Law is good, while the sin nature of man is bad.  God must save us only by His grace.  The new generation of the Israelites, now grown to adulthood, needed to have the Law interpreted for them in the light of 38 years' experience in the wilderness.  In this book, God tells His people that they are to teach the Law constantly to their children.  Moses gives his final instructions from God to the Israelites before he dies and Joshua resumes leadership. Chapter 1:  Introduction, Departure from Horeb, Leaders for...

Leviticus

The Book of Leviticus Chapter 1:  The Burnt Offering Summary God summons Moses and speaks to him at the tent of meeting.  God tells him to instruct the Israelites about how to bring and prepare a burnt offering to the Lord to make atonement for sins. Verses of Interest Leviticus 1:1-2 - Then the Lord summoned Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting:  "Speak to the Israelites and tell them:  When any of you brings an offering to the Lord from the livestock, you may bring your offering from the herd or the flock." Thoughts on the Text The Book of Leviticus was written by Moses.  It is a part of the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Bible.  The book opens and closes at the same geographical location , at Mount Sinai, where God gave the Law to Moses and the Israelites.  Exodus ends with the construction of the tabernacle and the glory of the Lord filling the tabernacle.  Now, in the book of Leviticus, the rules of wor...

Genesis

The Book of Genesis Chapter 1:  The Creation Summary The 1st chapter of Genesis details the creation of heaven and Earth.  We are introduced to God.  God is the creator.  On the first day God created a formless, empty earth and light.  On the second day, God created the sky.  God created an expanse of water above the sky and below the sky.  On the third day God created land and the seas of earth.  He also created vegetation, plants, trees, and fruit on the land.  On the fourth day God created the two great lights:  the sun and the moon.  He also created the stars.  On the fifth day God created sea creatures and fish of the sea and the winged creatures and birds of the sky.  On the sixth day God created the creatures of the Earth:  "...livestock, creatures that crawl, and the wildlife..."  Also, God created man on this day.  Man was made to rule over the earth.  Everything that God created prio...
