My Bible Journey

Hello, I'm Mark.  Welcome to my Bible Journey!

I plan to read the Bible one book at a time, one chapter at a time, and one verse at a time from the Book of Genesis all the way through to the Book of Revelation.  Along the way I will summarize what I read, write down verses that pique my interest, and jot down thoughts and reflections about the Bible passage.  I don't know how long this journey will take or where this journey will take me.  I look forward to the journey and what God has in store for me and you!  I pray that I grow closer to the Lord, learn more about the scriptures, and share with other people that are interested in learning more about God's holy inspired Word.

Listed below are the books in the Bible.  I will start at the beginning in the book of Genesis, work my way through the Old Testament, and read the new Testament, concluding my journey in the book of Revelation.  The journey does not stop here.  The journey is ongoing, as it is imperative to pass this information and wisdom down from generation to generation.  I am here for a moment; for a glimpse in time.  For my short journey upon this Earth may God light my path and be the wind in my sails that leads me and guides me.  God's will for our life is found in the Bible.  We just have to devote some of our time and listen.  I believe God will show us the way.  After all, God didn't create us to be blind.  So, why did God create us in the first place?  What are we here for?  Do we have a purpose on Earth?  Let's find out in this journey through the Bible!

Check out my good friend's, Nancy Johanna Binuya, blog. She is undertaking a daily Bible reading challenge in her faith journey. We are both reading the Bible in tandem and sharing our thoughts and reflections with each other and for the rest of you to see. Check her awesome blog out when you get a chance: https://dailybiblereadingchallenge.blogspot.com/

On this Bible Journey I will be reading the Bible and 'Thru the Bible with J. Vernon McGee.'  Many thoughts and ideas come from Mr. McGee's volumes on the Bible.  'Thru the Bible with J. Vernon McGee' is a tremendous resource and I suggest you check it out when you get the chance.

Deuteronomy

The Book of Deuteronomy Introduction Deuteronomy is the last book of the Pentateuch.  The first five books in the Bible were written by Moses and they are called the Pentateuch.  These books are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.  In Greek, Deuteronomy means "the second law."  The main theme to this book is "Love and Obey."  Deuteronomy teaches that obedience is man's response to God's love.  The Law is good, while the sin nature of man is bad.  God must save us only by His grace.  The new generation of the Israelites, now grown to adulthood, needed to have the Law interpreted for them in the light of 38 years' experience in the wilderness.  In this book, God tells His people that they are to teach the Law constantly to their children.  Moses gives his final instructions from God to the Israelites before he dies and Joshua resumes leadership. Chapter 1:  Introduction, Departure from Horeb, Leaders for...

Numbers

The Book of Numbers Chapter 1:  The Census of Israel Summary God tells Moses to take a census of the entire Israelite community by their clans and their ancestral houses, counting the names of every male one by one.  Males 20 years and older are to serve in Israel's army.  A man from each of the 12 tribes of Israel is to be with Moses and lead/head up his ancestral house in the army.  Israel's army consisted of: 46,500 registered for the tribe of Reuben 59,300 registered for the tribe of Simeon 45,650 registered for the tribe of Gad 74,600 registered for the tribe of Judah 54,400 registered for the tribe of Issachar 57,400 registered for the tribe of Zebulun 40,500 registered for the tribe of Ephraim 32,200 registered for the tribe of Manasseh 35,400 registered for the tribe of Benjamin 62,700 registered for the tribe of Dan 41,500 registered for the tribe of Asher 53,400 registered for the tribe of Naphtali 603,550 total registered in the ...

Exodus

The Book of Exodus Chapter 1:  Israel Oppressed in Egypt Summary After Israel died, time passed.  Joseph and all his 11 brothers died as well.  Their generation came and went like the blink of an eye.  But the Israelites--the descendants of the 12 sons of Israel--were fruitful, increased rapidly, multiplied, and became extremely numerous so that the land of Egypt was filled with them.  A new king/Pharaoh now rules the land of Egypt.  This king does not even know about Joseph as he has died already.  This new king of Egypt saw the Israelites as a threat to Egypt, so he forced them into slavery and made them suffer with toiling forced labor.  The king made the Israelites build two new supply cities for Egypt:  Pithom and Rameses.  Pharaoh hates the Israelites so much he tells the Hebrew midwives who help deliver the Israelite babies to kill the baby if it is a boy and to only let the girls live.  The midwives feared God, however...
